Sennheiser RS 160
$260.00
Released November, 2009
The Pros:Very long battery life on headphones, longer than many competitors. Long reception range, works between floors. Static and interference essentially never occur.
The Cons:Slight transmission lag when hooked up to musical instruments. Transmitter runs through AA batteries rather quickly, about a week of heavy use. Does not include larger adapter, required for some receivers.
Sennheiser's RS 160 is a combination set of headphones and a transmitter, ideal for home theatre systems, but potentially for other listening areas since the transmitter is discrete. The transmitter can run batteries and is portable, as well.

This system uses uncompressed wireless transmission to retain sound fidelity, and there is an automatic interference-free pairing feature to avoid having to calibrate the tuning. The headphones feature comfortable leather pads, and surround the ears entirely to reduce sound leaking. This is a mid-range model and features a decent range of frequency response. The headphones use rechargeable batteries but the transmitter uses standard AA ones.
