Since the headphones are specifically designed for children they include a small headband designed to fit comfortably on a child's head as opposed to the rather large sized headbands of standard headphones. They feature a high impedance level of 71 ohms at 1kHz to provide a much lower maximum volume limit in order to keep the overall volume low, making the MDR-222KD headphones truly safe for young children's ears. Additional features include a Ferrite magnet, a nickel plated stereo plug, a 3.8 ft cord, and a 1,000mW power handling capacity. The Sony MDR-222KD headphones were released on April 2, 2008 and have an MSRP of $14.99, which is listed on the official Sony website.
